Client Testimonials

We recently returned from a 5 day, 4 night Residential tour of Normandy with Stuart Robertson. It was the highlight of our European vacation. Stuart and his wife Jenny picked us up at our Paris hotel and transported us out to Normandy in their comfortable, modern mini-bus. On the way, we toured the Abbey at Mont St. Michel. We found the accomodations at 1 Le Port charming, comfortable and very peaceful. Jenny was a most congenial hostess and served a hearty breakfast daily. Stuart was an excellent guide whose encyclopedic knowledge of the Normandy campaign is humanized by his passion for this history and his genuine reverence for the servicemen who fought here. The accuracy and detail of his descriptions satisfied those in our party who already knew a great deal of this history, while his depiction of the human drama of the fight captivated those who came with less knowledge. Both the adults and the teenagers in our group were enthralled. He has had the opportunity to meet a lot of the veterans of this campaign and is able to relate their stories as he has learned them first-hand. Stuart tailored the itinerary to meet our specific areas of interest. The pace of our tour was brisk, but even with the amount of time we had, we left wishing we could have spent more time. Each evening our hosts made reservations at a local restaurant for us and transported us to and from the establishment. We were able to experience some wonderful (and some exotic) authentic French cuisine. On return to 1 Le Port, we capped off our evening with coffee and Calvados. Our rooms were comfortable, quiet and immaculately clean. At the end of our stay, we were again transported back to Paris for our flight home from Charles De Gaulle. Considering all that we received in terms of transportation, accomodation, food and an extremely knowledgeable and personable guide, we feel the cost of the entire package to be a very good value. With all there is to see, we would definitely recommend spending at least several days in Normandy and couldn't think of a better way to do this than with Stuart and Jenny at Normandy Battle Tours.

Stuart, I give you my full support in your venture. It is so important that people visit the battlefields and remember the events of 1944.

My family and I just returned home from a six day tour of Normandy. We stayed with Stuart and Jennifer Robertson in their wonderful B&B just outside of St Mere Eglise. Words are hard to find in describing how comfortable our stay was and how outstanding the daily tours of the entire area were. Stuart's knowledge and passion for the events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy made this trip an "once in a lifetime memory". Each day included visits to sites in the area not seen on the more commercial tours. From the time we started planning a long awaited family trip to Normandy, I expected it to be a wonderful experience. To say it far exceeded our expectations somehow fails to do it justice. Our family put the entire visit in the hands of Stuart and better hands would be very difficult to find. From the moment Stuart picked us up at the airport in Paris, to our arrival at their B&B, to Jenny's daily breakfasts, to our trip back to Paris days later, every aspect of this trip was a once in a lifetime experience. Stuart is a remarkable and knowledgeable guide who brings the events of the Battle of Normandy alive in a way that will be long remembered. Each and every destination and site visit was made so much more meaningful by Stuart's ability to share the story of the heroes who made history by their sacrifices during the summer of 1944. My family will for years to come be thankful to Stuart and Jennifer Robertson.

It is an honor to endorse such a fine young man who has given so much in keeping the memory alive. Only because of men like you are we still tall and free. Thanks. Be Happy.

It was a pleasure to spend four days with Stuart and Jennifer Robertson of Normandy Battle Tours. The assistance we received before the tour, all issues regarding transport and accommodation were dealt with and provided in an ultimately professional manner and the battlefield tour itself was just incredible. Thank you Stuart and Jenny for providing us with a memory which will last a lifetime.

I traveled to Normandy with my 19 year old nephew. We spent 4 days with Stuart and can not imagine having a better experience with anyone else. Stuart made World War II come alive for us. The personal stories and all of the details made us appreciate what happened there even more than we already did. I would highly recommend Stuart's tours and his accommodations!

There wouldn't be a Veteran who wouldn't be pleased to have their story told by Stuart because he gives it 100% and delivers every word with pride, tact and respect for those who so bravely gave up so much.
All we would like to say is "this Tour was the highlight of our 2 week tour in Europe". Any one taking the Tour will not be disappointed!

You will never know how thankful we are to you for such a lovely visit with you in Normandy. It meant so much to meet you and for you to show us all you did. I know I will not be going to Europe again, but this trip was very special because of you. Please keep in touch and when you can travel to the USA, please let us know and visit with us for as long as you like. I would love to take you to Bedford for the Memorial.

Eloise Rogers (Virginia, USA) (Sister of Jack Powers KIA Omaha Beach 6.6.44). This tour was given, without charge, in 2007 when Eloise was able to visit her Brother's grave for the very first time.

I am simply overwhelmed, as is my wife, with your extreme generosity in the way you took care of my mother in law, and how you took the time to send photographs to us family members within minutes of the end of the tour in Normandy. Eloise being able to visit Omaha Beach and Jack's grave meant so much to everyone that I am not exaggerating in saying it was probably Eloise's most important trip of her life. At last this lady can put some of the ghosts of her past to rest.
It was SO good to see them in good spirits and smiling on those photographs. And it was extremely touching when we showed the photos to Eloise's husband, Lew. He was stunned to see the photos that day (the marvels of the internet still elude him). And he was so happy to see them that he asked if were possible for us to print the pictures for him...which, of course, we did. And now he keeps the photos on his dresser.
As inadequate as it is, you have our undying gratitude.

Bill Yoder (Virginia, USA)

My husband and I had the wonderful privilege of spending time with you on one of your tours. Thank you for presenting, not only the geography and battle plans of D-Day, but also the several stories of individual soldiers that you have met and included in your narrative. Thank you especially for your commitment to remembering the heroes of history. Please know that we were truly pleased to spend that time with you. Keep up the good work. You are a credit to your work and the story of D-Day.

Stuart, thank you so much for the wonderful tour you provided my wife and I with. I have always wanted to visit Normandy. Your tour made the visit exceed what were already high expectations.
